I'm a bicoastal director specializing in devised performance, ensemble-driven work, and immersive large-scale events. I use both classical and current techniques to create strong underpinnings for fresh, modern ideas.
My approach to directing is highly collaborative. I begin by creating a space where a diverse ensemble—performers and designers alike—feel empowered to take creative risks. My vision serves as a point of departure to explore the work, and together, we make something that is bright and rich and powerful. I believe collaboration is at the heart of artistic excellence, whether I’m working toward a performance of an established text or an experimental piece that defies categorization. I am deeply interested in the future. I believe we create art because we are compelled to do so, and by doing so we foster the kind of creative thinking that can change the world. I'm also a steel sculptor, a producer, and a production manager. I make audio dramas, interesting jams (the sticky & non-musical kind), and I delight in a properly crafted Sazerac. I live on eight acres just north of Manhattan with my partner, our Maine Coon Leo, and his pet dog Kasper. |
